BoSoma Dance Company is excited to present “INTERCONNECTIONS,” an evening of contemporary dance in Boston this Spring, directed by Katherine Hooper. BDC will showcase a vibrant and diverse collection of performances featuring two new pieces by former BoSoma Dance Company members Stephanie Boisvert and Julia Sykes. BDC will be bringing back works by acclaimed choreographer Eddy Ocampo, as well as talented company dancers Jess-Rose White and former BDC dancer Dana Mazurowski. The program will include classic BDC repertory, such as Hooper’s “Regret” (2015), “Butterfly Effect” (2015), and “On the Rails” (2022), all emphasizing how a single moment or action can influence the future. BDC will also bring back Ocampo’s powerful piece, “WIPE,” which was originally created for the company in 2006 and restaged for this season. “WIPE” highlights the ongoing struggles women face in their quest for perfection and strength in society. BDC is bringing Dana Mazurowski and Jessica-Rose White’s piece to the stage in Boston. Mazurowski’s piece, inspired by her volunteer work with incarcerated individuals, is titled “SEW on and SEW forth” and explores how we spend our time together. White’s poignant piece, "Eight Years Later," translates her eight-year love story into a moving combination of dance and music. BDC is excited to premiere two original works by former company members Julia Sykes and Stephanie Boisvert. Syke’s piece “Matrescence” is inspired by her becoming a mother and exploring motherhood as a first time mom, especially after losing her own mother. Boisvert’s piece is a stunning jazz piece about women escaping gender roles and celebrating being a woman today. To complete the evening, the BoSoma Youth Company will perform the opening act choreographed by the amazing Ambere Rogers.
